After Botox® Cosmetic

1. You may experience a headache for up to 12 hours following injections.
2. Swelling at the injection sites may occur. Ice packs may be used for the first 24 hours after surgery to reduce swelling. Swelling is usually greater 2 days after surgery and can last about a week.
3. It may take up to 7 days to feel the effects of the Botox. The effects usually last 3 months.
4. Following Botox therapy, you should return to your normal diet as tolerated.
5. There is a doctor on call 24 hours a day. If a situation develops after our office hours that is a medical emergency, you may call our office and the doctor on call will be paged. It is very important when you leave a message that you speak clearly and give your name & phone number first.
6. Please report any of the following to our office:
   • Difficulty swallowing
   • Difficulty speaking
   • Weakness in the muscles that control facial expressions
   • Drooping of the eyelid
